Rainy day run

5.5 miles in Forest Park, in a little drizzle.  The day after, oh, did I mention, a 5k PR?  31:11 with some walking due to stomach cramps.  (Race recap will be forthcoming.)

Jen and I felt that due to our extreme hard-core-ness we needed to keep up our “long run” anyway.  After all, a 5k is only 3.1 miles, which just isn’t that far.   So today, even though it was drizzling we ran our (now usual) perimeter route around Forest Park.

Tested out my new hat as well!

All in all it was a fantastic run and a great morning.

Friday the 13th

Ooh, SCARY!  ‘

I feel like I should write something, but I can’t think of anything good.  Often while I’m driving I’ll think of a fun topic for a blog post, but I can’t remember any of them right now.  I should probably write those down, but I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to take notes while driving (especially in construction zones).

Tonight is another school concert.  I will be relieved when it’s over—I know the kids will be fine, but these things are still stressful, because who knows what might happen.  For instance, several children might break their violins (likely) or perhaps somebody will play the wrong song because they didn’t listen to the introduction (less likely, but still possible) or maybe the parents will complain the violin portion of the program is still too long (don’t care, listen for 6 minutes, okay?).

Today is the first day in a long time that I got up after 8:00 am.  WHO AM I?  I have been waking up before my alarm even.  I blame the sun, and the fact that I have been generally going to bed before midnight.  Does this mean I am an adult now?  (No, my criteria remains that I want to have a washer/dryer ON MY FLOOR.)

Here’s a photo of one of the places we are looking at for the wedding…I like the table runners/colored tablecloths.  (See, I’m taking an interest in decor! )

Seriously though, I dislike too much monotony or white in decor, and want color and texture.  Hence my house is cluttered with junk—  Besides which, what would my students look at while playing?  Their bows??  That’s crazy talk.  But for the wedding I think some color will be nice.

I have a relaxing weekend ahead of me and I can’t wait.  I only have TWO things to do this weekend, and considering I am counting my 5k race, I really only have one thing to do (play a wedding).  SWEET.

Happy Friday the Thirteenth to you!

Wedding planning

I am seriously not cut out for wedding planning.  Chris keeps getting excited about stuff and I keep getting stressed out.  We are working on our location though, and I’m excited to get that pinned down soon.  I will let you know what we end up doing, but we are looking at two different venues right now and are currently working on negotiations.

I am looking forward to the food tastings..both of our venues provide food so the tasting will come later.  I shall channel my inner Emily Gilmore.

How do you like my outfit?

Oh, I’m READY for the 80s race.  (I know I said I wouldn’t show you my outfit, but I love this picture too much not to go ahead and spoil the surprise. I am not good at keeping things secret).  I mean, I have my costume ready.   That’s not ENTIRELY complete of course, the hair is not ready.  Nor have I really RUN in several days…(unimportant).

Lazy Sunday night

Finally an evening to relax!  I have been running around non stop for what feels like weeks so it’s great to have an evening (and much of the afternoon) off to recuperate and gear up for my upcoming week.

Jen and I did a six mile run in Forest Park earlier today.  It was hot, probably as hot as during the Go! Half, but we are just in training now.  I had some stomach cramping issues so we walked a few times.  Overall it was a great run though.  We did the six miles in about the same time that last week we did 5.5 miles!

This afternoon was the Festival Concert at the St. Louis School of Music.  The kids did a fantastic job playing music ranging from the Bach Double to Dill Pickle Rag to Twinkle, Twinkle.  I was proud to be part of the concert and look forward to more in the future.

In other news, I found a nice review of our concert last night.

On the docket for the week:

Orchestra concert at Good Shepherd Lutheran School

Concert at Child of God School

Going to look at some wedding venues!!

Benton Park 5K on Saturday…Ready to run, and might even have a fun 80’s outfit to wear.  Will I break 30 minutes?  I’m not going to stress over it but I’d love to…
