What a weird title, right? Today is Monday, and I have to take Miles to the vet for some shots and a checkup. Technically we are supposed to take Muriel to the vet, but I’m not sure if that will happen. Muriel hates vets, and threatens them. She growls from her cage, which is not super normal behavior for her–yes she may hiss at children and me if I want her chair, but growling is certainly a step up. So it’s just Miles for today, and maybe forever.
After that I have another appointment and then lots of teaching. Monday is teaching day! Tomorrow I have a few students early and then a rehearsal and a concert (the music of Undertale at the Factory) which will certainly help keep my mind off any Election Day horrors, though we are almost all numb to bad (and good) news these days, so who even knows. But of course still hoping for good news.
We finished watching The Diplomat Season Four last night. It was a good season, very enjoyable. I’m eager to see what happens next. What should I watch next? We watched East of Eden before this.
I’m sitting here blogging on my couch, listening to the trash trucks come down the street. Where I live, Monday is the day they pick up trash and recycling carts. We have some chores divided at our house, and Louie is in charge of emptying trash and recycling and taking the carts to the curb on Sunday nights. We have a slightly more traditional division of labor, I guess: I do laundry and grocery shopping, he mows the lawn and most other yard work and does the trash. Other stuff we share and we also have a house cleaner every two weeks. I wonder what other people do?

This is it, the day in the life of a working freelance musician and teacher, isn’t it fascinating?
I married a man thinking I’d never have to worry about trash again, but it turns out that he teaches late (he’s a university professor) on garbage day, so GUESS WHO TAKES THE TRASH OUT? Why am I even in a heterosexual relationship? Just kidding. He does the dishes.
Haha to why am I even in a heterosexual relationship?! To be fair mine also opens jars and such I can’t. Main reason to keep a man around, though I know they have tools and gadgets for that sort of thing as well.
I love knowing about other people’s household divisions of labor. My husband works outside the home so I do most work inside it and most of the childcare/child limo service stuff. He also takes care of bills and travel plans. We definitely outsource lawn maintenance and snow removal. Our kid is (supposedly) in charge of the trash!
